Ideation Project
The Problem
Ideation in the Skyword Platform was intended to consolidate ideas for new content within the Skyword Platform so that each content strategy team used a consistent and reliable pitching process.
After a time, we learned that ideas were not being pitched in the platform, and client strategy teams were developing content topics outside of the Skyword Platform.
Approach
1. Understand the editorial teams' processes to develop content topics and get client approval.
2. Validate the process with Skyword editorial teams and learn where the process worked and where it didn't work.
3. Identify themes and insights.
4. Prioritize the opportunities.
Understand the Problem
I interviewed two Skyword stakeholders—The Director of Editorial and the Director of Strategy —to learn their insights on the process, what problems exist, and what works well with the ideation process.

Journey map based on interviews with editorial and strategy stakeholders..

Validation
With the help of the stakeholders I interviewed, we solicited the help of editorial and content strategy team members and scheduled three workshops.
We went through a rose/thorn/bud process in the workshops, validating parts of the workflow, identifying pain points, gain points, and insights.

Results from one of the workshops.

Clustering
We compiled the sticky notes from the workshops into clusters of related roses, thorns, and buds.

Clustered sticky notes from the workshops.

Prioritization
We came away with a lot of opportunities to explore. So I surveyed the editorial and strategy teams to learn the most important opportunities to prioritize, resulting in backlog items for the product and scrum team to refine and plan.
